Since its launch in 2009, the Mulsanne has been seen as the flagship of the Bentley range, the pinnacle of British motoring, paying respect to the marque’s prestigious past while continuing to drive the brand forward.
A pure Bentley, the Mulsanne offers the world’s most exclusive driving experience – a unique fusion of power, refinement and elegance delivering a thoroughly modern British statement of luxury driving and grand touring.
To underline how completely the Mulsanne is a driver’s car, Bentley showcased the 2013 model at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, incorporating the Mulliner Driving Specification (MDS) which offers enhanced sporty visual cues and chassis whilst maintaining unparalleled ride and refinement quality.
The MDS pack builds on the effortless power and acceleration of the Mulsane, with a revised and even more driver-focused sports suspension setting, selectable via the Drive Dynamics Control for even better grip, body control and steering accuracy at the limits of performance.
New to the MDS is an optional large panel glass sunroof to the front cabin, flooding the car with daylight, and a touch of necessary luxury with the addition of a refrigerated bottle cooler between the two back passenger seats, which can accommodate two full size bottles of champagne and comes complete with bespoke crystal glasses.
And to ensure a sportier look, there are exclusive new two-piece 21” aluminium alloy wheels, Mulliner-branded ‘Flying B’ polished stainless steel wing vents with a black matrix grille to match the lower front bumper, and a vertical tradeplate plaque, proudly proclaiming ‘Handcrafted by Bentley Mulliner, England’.
Inside, the superior craftsmanship extends to perfectly diamond-quilted seats and door pads utilising a new perforated hide offering seat ventilation.
Tactile coined interior door handles and knurled organ stop air vent controls hark back to pre-war Bentleys, ensuring the genealogy and heritage of the brand shines through in its most modern interpretation.
The sports gear lever is, in itself, a breathtaking work of art, the Bentley ‘B’ surrounded by a circle of knurled, chromed aluminium and enriched by hand-stitched baseball cross stitch pattern on the body of the gear lever.
Beautifully-crafted drilled alloy sports accelerator and brake pedals provide extra grip for confident, spirited driving, indicative of the top-to-bottom attention to detail that the Bentley owner expects.
In keeping with Bentley’s reputation for technical excellence, improved navigation systems, audio, telephone and multimedia connectivity ensure constant communication and entertainment.
Guaranteed to stand out from the crowd, the Mulsanne with Mulliner Driving Specification reflects the Bentley reputation for creating handcrafted quality cars that maintain the marque’s traditional values whilst also incorporating cutting-edge technology and engineering excellence.
In the words of former-CEO Dr Paefgen, “No other car maker can offer such a blend of performance and refinement in a single vehicle.
“The Mulsanne is a car that evoked the Bentley philosophy of building the best luxury grand tourers in the world.”
